As I mentioned a couple blogs ago, I'm sleep deprived. Last night, my phone battery was almost dead and I wanted it to die before I recharged it because supposedly that's good for your battery. I was playing games on it, but it was pretty late and I was tired and wanted it to die faster. I decided that I'd make a call instead, but I didn't know of anyone I could call that late for no good reason.
In my tired delirium, I remembered a weather hotline from my childhood that was one of those three-digit numbers. You could call and hear the local weatherman read out the forecast. I thought I remembered that the number was 311, so I called it.
"Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, how may I help you?” I heard on the other line.
“Umm, sorry…. I thought I was calling the weather hotline… I don’t suppose you’d have the number for that… sorry… I’ll let you go now.”
“Thank you, have a good evening.”
The weather hotline is 118.

Early morning action
I leave work before the sun even thinks of getting up. Friday morning, someone started ringing my doorbell repeatedly just as I was about to leave. I freaked out because I had only woken up 7 minutes before, so I was still drowsy and couldn't imagine who on earth (other thaan a murderer) would be ringing my doorbell at 4:40.
I ran upstairs, woke up my dad and had him go down and answer the door. (Yes, I am a chicken)Talking to my mom, I found out that an hour before somone fired 6 shots in my neighborhood. Yikes! After heading back downstairs, I found out it was a cop who was talking to my dad just making sure that everyone in our house was okay.
I went out to the car to leave, and for some reason the inside light didn't come on when I unlocked it like it normally does. I got scared and had my dad check the trunk for gun-brandishing bandits because he was standing in the driveway. I couldn't find the button to pop the trunk inside the car for a while since it was dark, so I just kept pressing things. Finally, it opened and no one was inside, so I left for work.
Driving on the freeway I realized that in my effort to open the trunk I had opened the hood instead and it was threatening to come up. Luckily there's an extra safety latch you have to press on the hood itself to open it, so it doesn't do things like fly up onto your windshield if you accidentally press it while driving on the freeway, and I made it to work without further incident.
P.S. Apparently the cops found the casings and think it was something random because we live close to the freeway. Great.... that makes me feel safe....

I must be getting old
So a quick summary of my last two weeks- work for six days (gone 14 hours a day), church, work for five days (14 hrs + again), hike a mountain, shop, church, fly to california. Through all of that I've gotten usually less than 7 hours of sleep (usually 6 except one day I got 7 and 1/2). That used to be no problem for me, but for some reason now I'm exhausted. I was going to hang out with some friends at 9:30 last night, which isn't even too late, but I ended up crashing on the couch instead. Maybe that has something to do with getting up before 5 every day..... Idk, but I do know that if this trend continues I won't make a very good college student this next semester.

Fourth
Last weekend for the Fourth I went to my annual family reunion. My grandma lives in a small town, which in my view, is the perfect place to spend the Fourth. I love the patriotism of an early morning flag-raising, a small-town parade and a rodeo. I love this country!
Back to life!
So guess what? I'm finally blogging again. It's not that I don't remember that I have a blog, it's just that I remember either at work or when I'm going to sleep- neither of which is the best time to blog. But yay! I remembered when I am awake and able to get on my blog! I think you should all cheer!

Update on the DVD
So after a couple hours, I gave up burning the DVD for my friend using my computer and switched to a different program on a different computer. This burn took 20 minutes.
Happy Early Birthday!
So, the layout for birthdays on the new facebook isn't very clear. They have everyone whose birthday is coming up listed in a row in bright red print with the day of their birthday in light gray print next to their name. Today, I was looking there and just opened up everyone's profile who was in red and wished them a happy birthday. Seconds later, I realized that I was the first one to do so on many profiles. I looked back and realized that their birthdays weren't today, they were sometime in the next couple days. Oops.
I promptly deleted my comments. Now no one will know of my slip-ups except the people themselves (probably the worst people to know). That's okay, I'll just make sure to wish them happy birthday on their real birthday.
